CSU presents a field day for creative types
Actress Anna Deavere Smith (above) and radio personalities Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich will be the special guests at the Creative Voices Summit & Arts Education Day Luncheon on Tuesday, June 11, presented by Cleveland State University’s Center for Arts and Innovation, in partnership with ideastream and the Cleveland Arts Education Consortium.
Abumrad and Krulwich, hosts of the popular public-radio show Radiolab, will present “Adventures in Creative Decision Making” during the Creative Voices Summit portion of the program, which runs for 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Idea Center at PlayhouseSquare’s Westfield Insurance Studio Theatre. Admission is free, but reservations are required.
MacArthur Award winner Smith, whose acting credits include the television series “Nurse Jackie” and “The West Wing,” will give a keynote address on “Engaging the World: The Role of the Artist in Society” at the Arts Education Day Luncheon, from noon to 2 p.m. at PlayhouseSquare’s State Theatre. Tickets are $30.
Nancy McCann, president of the John P. Murphy Foundation and the Kulas Foundation and a director of the CSU Foundation, is honorary chair for the event.
